Can You Go To Ocs If You Have Sought Treatment For Substance Abuse? Specifically Alcohol, Not Illegal Drugs.?
I have been through a 28 day inpatient program. I went voluntarily (I was not court mandated), I’ve never had a DUI or been in any trouble, and I have been completely sober for almost two years. I am just interested in military service, and I have no idea if this would effect my eligibility for a program like OCS, or not.
Hummmm…… To a certain degree it might. Not saying that it will, but Officers are held to a higher esteem than enlisted personnel, it depends on how good your other credentials are.
Currently the army has 51% of the officers that it needs, so that is in your favor. However, the army does not want officers with “problems”, so if I were you I would apply and during your interview make sure they know that it is no longer an issue and detail what you have learned about yourself from this point in your life. Everyone makes mistakes, it is what you learn from the mistake that makes you a leader or a follower.
follow that interest.
one must first learn to walk in order to run…
Nope…That is a NO No…
